i-Drive, the path as a definition

Can we define our end destination by the path we are on rather than the end destination? Andy Stanley talks about the marriage path, the career path, etc. What about another type of path. To choose one path is to NOT choose another.

Are you on the “integrity path”? If not then your motives might be great, the goals you have set very noble, but you will be on the path of dishonesty, disloyalty, cruelty, stinginess or unfaithfulness.

Are you on the “me path”? On this round path all questions and all answers, all directions and all purposes, all hopes and all ambitions turn, like a roundabout, around the person of self. The worth of a project, the value of a system, the beliefs and the hopes are all measured against the fixed scales of me, or her sisters, I and mine. These are jealous bedfellows who allow no room for foreign suitors.

Are you on the foggy path of “whatever”. Here it is very easy to lose the path as there are no signs, no directions and no compass. All directions are equally viable, equally visible and equally reasonable. You’ll go up and down, round and round and will end up somewhere, but nowhere which your good intentions would have wished for.

Choose your path well!

i-Drive - The Scenic Tour

Sight Seeing Drives (not Goal Orientated)

For all those who say “yea, yea, yea, “but I’m not made that way :I don't like goals; Stop restricting me; Let it flow
; I can’t express myself in that way; Goals cramp my creativity”.

Then the idea from Andy Stanley, “The Principle of the Path” may be of some help.

Certain definitions are necessary for the journey, otherwise you might end up somewhere you didn’t wanted to go. So, if you don’t define the drive in terms of the goal, is it possible to define it in terms of the paths which you take?

We are all driven, we are all going somewhere. The questions are,

Have you played a conscious part in deciding where you will end up? Which path are you on?

Can we define our end destination by the path we are on rather than the end destination?

i-Drive - The Clear Destination Tour

Propulsive Drives

When I try to reach a destination, there is a clear starting point and a clear arrival or goal.

To drive a vehicle I need to invest in the vehicle itself, keep it roadworthy or river worthy and put fuel into it.

So also inother aspects of life.

In all the areas in which you are moving towards a goal, are you in a state of preparedness?

Is your car or boat (your body, your equipment, your qualifications) road- or seaworthy?

1. Are you kitted out for the by-roads as well as the high-roads, the fields as well as the Motorways?

2. Are you only seaworthy for the canals or also for the high seas?

3. Can you go fast as well as slow, depending on the circumstances? (Most importantly, do your brakes work

and are you prepared to use them? Does your steering wheel work, or is it locked onto a destination with

a ball and chain?)

4. Have you enough fuel to make the distance? Have you planned your rests, your re-fuelling stops and

your water stops?

5. Is the rest sufficient for a service, a real break or pause. In our case, is a weekend break in order or

a holiday?

6. Have you passed a TUV, a driver’s test, or read enough to know how to properly react?

7. Have you clearly defined your starting point as well as your destination? Think about any navigating you do,

without a point of outset and an end, no start is possible.

So, when driving, as a help you might use a navigation system, or a map or even a personal Navigator on the seat next to you so that you arrive where you want to go - so in your life situation.
You might want to think about guidance. The Bible is the best help on all moral issues as well as many practical situations. On top of this, you might want to read books on the subject, listen to sermons, documentaries and podcasts, ask friends for their opinions and seek out a coach or a mentor, your personal navigator.

i-Drive

Drive is a great word.
- I can drive a car, drive a boat or drive a golf ball – all indicating propulsion.

- I can drive you to drink, drive you to wrack and ruin or drive you – all indicating a physical demise.
But if I drive you wild it might be with passion, which under the correct circumstances might be very enjoyable.

- I can also drive you to your knees, over the edge, drive you up the wall or drive you crazy, which all show much more invisible, emotional influences.

Tomorrow I’ll talk on Propulsive Drives.

i - Leadolution

i-

intentionality is my word of the year. The time is short. We should be intentional about our beliefs, our relationships, our families, our jobs, our hobbies.

We also need to find out what the core is of our reason for existence. for example, Leadership and Solutions are 2 of my current priorities.

LEADERSHIP
Leadership is an attitude. John Maxwell writes that "Leadership is influence." Andy Stanley says that "Leadership is a Stewardship, and you're accountable." Whichever, and both are great points, we need to take our influence more seriously and to be more intentional in this influence. One of my friends, Lisa (25) challenged me 2 years ago. She said that I had failed her as the old women are meant to teach the young women (Titus 2, 3-5 in the New Testament)! Well I never either considered myself to be old (I was 48, and the text is actually oldER and youngER) or that I had anything to say. I've changed my mind.
Since then we have set up a women's ministry in our church where last year alone 155 different women attended at least 1 of the 6 Breakfasts. Our church only has max. 300 attendees, so this number was very encouraging! I am the one who teaches and have found a great joy in this. The breakfasts are real events where we do Sketches, Music, Videos, break-out discussions, cool deco. etc. etc. It is a wonderful outlet for that underrated resource “creativity”. Especially amazing are the women’s overnights in July.

Solutions

Here are some of the questions for which I am trying to find a solution:-

· What is leadership anyway?

· What is church?

· What is the best way to use new technology to reach people to help them to unfold their full, God given potential?

· What is success?

· What is creativity?

Some of these have been the recent ruminations of my soul.

This Blog will be a new direction for me as

· up until now I've been blogging as a diary, what I was and what I'd done.

· Now I want to Blog as a perspective, what I want to become and what I want to do.
